Industrial unmanaged switches are built for harsh industrial conditions — wide temperature ranges, redundant DC power inputs, surge protection on every port, and rugged metal housings rated for DIN-rail installation in control panels and enclosures.
An unmanaged switch requires no configuration. There's no CLI, no web interface, no VLAN setup. You connect power and Ethernet cables, and it immediately starts forwarding traffic at Layer 2. For field nodes where the only requirement is basic connectivity — powering and connecting an IP camera, sensor, or wireless AP — an unmanaged switch is the correct and most reliable choice.
The HUS-IDM Series is the compact industrial grade range — 2 to 4 ports — designed for small edge nodes where one or two field devices need to be connected and powered. The HUS-HDM Series is the hardened grade 8-port range — built for more demanding environments with temperatures from –40°C to +75°C, 6–8KV surge protection on every port, a built-in fault alarm relay, and higher MTBF ratings for mission-critical deployments.
PoE (IEEE 802.3af) delivers up to 15.4W. PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) delivers up to 30W. PoE++ (IEEE 802.3bt) on the HUS-HDM-F82SPp9 delivers up to 95W per port. PoE++ backward compatibility means you can connect older PoE and PoE+ devices — the switch delivers only what the connected device requests.
No. Every model in the HUS-IDM and HUS-HDM series is completely plug-and-play. No software, no login, no setup wizard. Connect cables, apply DC power, and the switch begins forwarding traffic immediately.
Yes, when mounted inside an appropriate IP-rated industrial enclosure. HEPDA recommends pairing the switch with the HA Series IP66-rated stainless steel enclosure for fully sealed outdoor installations. The switch handles the temperature extremes and electrical environment; the enclosure handles dust and water ingress.
