What Is a GRP Electrical Enclosure?
GRP stands for Glass Reinforced Plastic — a composite material made by embedding glass fibres into a plastic (polyester) resin. It's strong, it doesn't rust, it doesn't conduct electricity, and it handles harsh chemicals without breaking down.
Unlike steel boxes that can rust or standard plastic boxes that can crack under UV and heat, a GRP enclosure stays structurally sound for years — even in the most aggressive outdoor and industrial environments. GRP is the material. IP66 is the protection rating. Together, they make a box your electricals can live in safely — no matter where you put it.
Complete corrosion immunity
Strong acids, alkalis, ammonia, chloride ions, and salt spray — GRP is rated for all of them.
Electrically non-conductive
GRP does not conduct electricity — a significant safety advantage over metal enclosures. No grounding worries from the box itself.
Wide temperature range
Operates comfortably from -20°C to +55°C — suitable for refrigerated facilities through to tropical outdoor installations.
Lightweight and easy to install
GRP is significantly lighter than steel. One person can handle installation without heavy lifting equipment.
