Gigabit Media Converters — HMC-HDM-G1SPp
HMC-HDM-G1SPp — Hardened Grade Gigabit PoE+ Media Converter
Power and Data Over Copper to Fibre — Surge-Hardened for Industrial Field Deployments.
Product overview
The HMC-HDM-G1SPp — Hardened PoE+ Gigabit Media Converter
The HMC-HDM-G1SPp extends the hardened-grade platform with full IEEE 802.3at PoE+ output capability — delivering power and data to connected devices (IP cameras, access points, VoIP handsets, sensors) while simultaneously converting copper Ethernet to 1000Base-SFP fibre. The 48–57VDC input range and 6KV DC Ethernet ESD protection make this converter the correct specification for deployments exposed to electrical surges, lightning, and inductive interference on the copper side — common in Singapore's outdoor and semi-outdoor industrial installations.
This single unit handles fibre runs up to 2km on multimode and up to 20km on singlemode. It delivers up to 30W of PoE+ power. It takes redundant 48–57VDC power inputs. And it does all of that within a compact DIN-rail footprint.
Product features
HMC-HDM-G1SPp — Hardened Grade Gigabit PoE+ Media Converter
Power and Data Over Copper to Fibre — Surge-Hardened for Industrial Field Deployments.
PoE+ Power Delivery — IEEE 802.3at
Up to 30W delivered over the RJ45 port — enough to power full IP cameras, dual-band APs, and VoIP phones without a local socket.
6KV DC Ethernet ESD Protection
The Ethernet ports absorb a 6,000-volt electrostatic hit. Critical for outdoor copper runs exposed to lightning and industrial electrical events.
6KV EFT Protection on Power Lines
Electrical fast transients from motor switching, generator cycling, and inductive loads are suppressed before reaching the converter's internals.
Dual Redundant DC Power — 48–57VDC
Two independent 48–57VDC inputs via terminal block. If one feed fails, the converter keeps running on the other without interruption.
Fibre reach up to 20km
SC connector. Up to 2km on multimode (62.5/125μm) and up to 20km on singlemode (9/125μm) at 1310nm.
MTBF >300,000 hours
Over 34 years of continuous operation — specified for mission-critical, unmanned field deployments.

Applications
Where it is deployed
Deployed across many industries where long-distance, interference-free network connectivity is required.
Port and Maritime Logistics
Cargo terminals run fibre backbones across vast distances, but field devices still need copper connections. The HMC-HDM-G1SPp converts fibre to copper at each endpoint and powers the device directly over PoE+.
Manufacturing and Industrial Plants
Factory floors generate constant electromagnetic interference. Placing this converter at the network edge isolates the sensitive copper segment, and the 6KV EFT protection handles electrical noise on the supply side.
Transport and MRT Infrastructure
Train stations, bus interchanges, and expressway monitoring installations run fibre along the route but terminate to copper at camera and sensor locations. DIN-rail mounting fits existing control cabinet formats.
Building Automation and Smart Facilities
Large commercial buildings use fibre risers between floors but switch to copper at each floor's distribution point. The HMC-HDM-G1SPp handles that transition while simultaneously powering IP intercoms, access control panels.
Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Sites
Refineries and chemical plants create intense electrical noise during plant startups and shutdowns. The converter's ±4KV surge protection and IEC 61000-4 series compliance mean it handles the electrical environment these sites produce.
Telecommunications and Data Centre Edge
Telco equipment rooms and edge data nodes often need to extend Gigabit links beyond 100m to reach remote equipment racks. The redundant dual-power input ensures the converter doesn't become a single point of failure.
